Hotel Triton

After a disappointing stay at the Proper, Hotel Triton was a breath of fresh air. From the moment I arrived, the staff made me feel genuinely welcome—friendly, attentive, and refreshingly human. The location is unbeatable: steps from Union Square and Chinatown, yet somehow still feels tucked away enough to breathe. The rooms are thoughtfully designed, clean, and cozy without trying too hard. It’s not luxury for luxury’s sake—it’s comfort with character. I especially appreciated the little touches that made the space feel personal rather than generic. Why not five stars? The bar next door closes frustratingly early, which dampens the evening vibe a bit. But that’s a minor quirk in an otherwise delightful stay. If you’re looking for a boutique hotel that values charm over flash and kindness over polish, Triton delivers. I’d return in a heartbeat.

My trip to SF was meant to be flying in and out the same day… because of delayed flights, I had to find a place to stay for the night last minute. I found this GEM of a boutique hotel, and it was so nice that I ended up staying over the weekend and enjoy the city for a bit. Everyone I have met that works here are so welcoming and friendly. Alice at the front desk treated me like a royal when I needed it the most and made sure I always had everything I needed. Thank you so much Also Jay and Saba at the front desk, thank you so much!

This hotel is a hidden gem. Me and my husband come to San Francisco quite often for work and leisure. We spent time in Union Square district and Fishermen wharf. We chose this place because of the area. Right in front of Chinatown, there also french restaurant downstairs. The rooms are nice, comfortable bed and refrigerator. No microwave and the water pressure in the shower could of been better. However, still gets 5/5 due to soft beds, good cable TV, free quick breakfast and afternoon wine

I was lucky to stay at Triton for a night due to flight cancellation. The lobby is stunning, the rooms are cute, and the staff the most friendly people you can encounter. I am specially grateful for Esmeralda and Jay A (with the charming earrings), at the reception who made my check in and check out a memorable experience. And the housekeeping lady at the morning shift of Friday, Jan 9 at 6th floor. She was a sweetheart and i missed her name. Upon checking in, i could pick a fortune cookie at the reception, and the message in that cookie beautifully summed up my stay (the picture)

Overall, had a good stay at Hotel Triton. The cost was higher than normal due to Dreamforce. But, the service was great during this busy time. I liked the water dispenser they have on the 6th floor. We had left something in our rooms. Alice/Olga were very helpful and let us back into our room to find the item

I’ve stayed at Hotel Triton for work for the past six years and always have a great experience. The hotel is dog-friendly, and the staff is consistently accommodating and helpful. The location is unbeatable—steps from Union Square, next to the Chinatown Gate, an easy walk to North Beach, and close to Market Street for BART, MUNI, streetcars, cable cars, and buses. I highly recommend staying here.

Very nice nice hotel in a great location. Chinatown is fight across the street and within walking distance to the Moscone Center. Rooms are nice, a bit older but always clean and comfortable. I've stayed at this hotel 6 times now and have never been disappointed.

A great hotel in an excellent location for exploring the city, just footsteps from Chinatown, close to Union Square and a short walk into North Beach, and excellently located for access to metro and buses for travelling further afield. The staff were lovely: cheerful and professional, and were able to assist us with recommendations and advice. Breakfast served in the lobby was limited but consistent, although would have benefited from a second toaster to reduce queues at busy times. “Wine time” from 4-6pm was much appreciated after a day of exploring and the lobby was a fun place to relax and reflect over a glass of wine or two. The room was charming and clean and we were pleased to be upgraded to a corner room, making our 2-week stay more comfortable as this room was slightly larger. We gained the impression that most guests only stay for a few days so by the end of our two-week stay we felt like we had been there forever. We’d happily stay here again due to the location and staff.
